{"id":13299,"date":"2025-09-10T10:55:47","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/reevaluate-rethinking-cultural-heritage-digitisation\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T09:45:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T09:45:52","slug":"reevaluate-rethinking-cultural-heritage-digitisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/en\/reevaluate-rethinking-cultural-heritage-digitisation\/","title":{"rendered":"REEVALUATE: Rethinking Cultural Heritage Digitisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The European project <a href=\"https:\/\/reevaluate.eu\/\"><strong>REEVALUATE<\/strong><\/a> aims to provide a holistic solution to the challenges of <strong>Cultural Heritage (CH) digitisation management<\/strong>, enabling collaboration, boosting creative reuse, and promoting democratic and inclusive prioritisation and contextualisation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13263\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Diseno-sin-titulo-10-700x292.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Diseno-sin-titulo-10-700x292.png 700w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Diseno-sin-titulo-10-768x320.png 768w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Diseno-sin-titulo-10-120x50.png 120w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Diseno-sin-titulo-10.png 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, REEVALUATE is developing a <strong>modular framework<\/strong> that supports each stage of a digitised artefact\u2019s life cycle \u2014 from prioritisation and contextualisation to storage, collaboration, and reuse \u2014 through a set of technological enablers. Free versions of these enablers will be made available for integration into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.echoes-eccch.eu\/\"><strong>European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage<\/strong><\/a><strong> (ECCCH)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artificial Intelligence<\/strong> will play a central role in the framework by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting manual contextualisation.<\/li>\n<li>Improving prioritisation through <em>public sensing<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Visualising creative ideas for reuse.<\/li>\n<li>Proposing collaborations and reuse cases.<\/li>\n<li>Validating the context of reused artefacts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GVAM is in charge of developing some of these enablers, such as one devoted to human-based contextualisation of cultural objects, and the creation of synergies with AI-assisted contextualisation. It will be ready before the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>The framework also ensures <strong>secure storage<\/strong> of digitised artefacts and frames intellectual property rights through <strong>CH object tokenisation<\/strong> and the use of <strong>smart contracts<\/strong> for reuse. In addition, it provides a <strong>standardised semantic representation<\/strong> of artefact metadata to enhance accessibility, discoverability, and enable automated detection of CH object misuse.<\/p>\n<p>During 2026 and 2027, the project results will be piloted in three real-life use cases across:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Fashion and Gaming industries<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Advertising industry<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Tourism industry<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>GVAM will lead the evaluation of these pilots towards the future improvement of project\u2019s results, also organising a series of focus groups with end users for feedback generation (such as one organised online in May engaging managers from top-notch museums and heritage sites across Spain).<\/p>\n<p>REEVALUATE is funded by the <strong>European Union<\/strong> under the Horizon call <em>\u201cCL2 Re-visiting the digitisation of cultural heritage\u201d<\/em> (Grant Agreement: 101132389) and brings together <strong>16 partners from seven countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13293\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0-700x81.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"769\" height=\"89\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0-700x81.png 700w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0-768x88.png 768w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0-1536x177.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0-120x14.png 120w, https:\/\/www.gvam.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0.png 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European project REEVALUATE aims to provide a holistic solution to the challenges of Cultural Heritage (CH) digitisation management, enabling collaboration, boosting creative reuse, and promoting democratic and inclusive prioritisation and contextualisation.
